Francesca May grew up in the middle of England where she spent her childhood devouring fantasy books and brewing potions in her back garden. She currently lives in Derby with her partner, two elderly rescue dogs and three black cats.

By day she works as a bookseller. By night she accidentally kills every house plant she touches and writes novels about gothic mansions, magic, and queer love.

Francesca’s debut fantasy novel Wild and Wicked Things was published by Orbit in 2022 and was a Sunday Times No. 2 Bestseller in hardback, and it was shortlisted for the Genre Busting Novel of the Year at the Fingerprint Awards 2023. She also writes as Fran Dorricott.
