Isabel is the author of novels Paris Mon Amour, a WH Smith Travel Book of Summer 2017, and Scent (Muswell Press), which was longlisted for the 2022 Polari Prize. Her shorter work has been widely published including the title story in feminist charity anthology The Word for Freedom (2018) and poetry in both volumes of Queer Life, Queer Love. Her writing career spans digital only, self-publishing and traditional publishing.
She is an experienced creative writing mentor, workshop leader and book doctor who has collaborated with many literary organisations including Word Factory, Mslexia and Jericho Writers. She works as tutor/mentor on the Retreat West Novel Creator course and freelance, and has a special interest in the resilience and motivation of writers. Isabel ran the popular Literary Sofa blog for 11 years and was voted Best Reviewer of Literature in the 2021 Saboteur Festival Awards.
Isabel’s writing is fuelled by her belief in the need for more honest representation of older women’s lives and female sexuality, especially that of queer women. A lifelong Francophile, she splits her time between London, Paris and Marseille.
