Jacquie Bloese

Agent: Broo Doherty

Jacquie grew up on the Channel Island of Guernsey. She has always enjoyed writing stories and making things up, and first saw her words in print at the age of sixteen in an anthology of teenage lives, published by Virago Press.

Life got in the way of writing for a while and a period as an English teacher in Turkey and Spain led to a varied career in educational and children’s publishing, which has taken her in and out of classrooms all over the world.

Since then Jacquie has returned to fiction, and her work has been shortlisted for the Good Housekeeping First Novel award, Caledonia Novel Award and Mslexia Novel Award. Her debut novel, The French House, set on Occupied Guernsey during World War 2, was a Richard and Judy 2022 Book Club Pick. Her second novel The Golden Hour, also published by Hodder and Stoughton is out now. Jacquie is currently working on her third novel.

After many years in London, Jacquie lives in Brighton with her partner.
