Jane Crowther
Agent: Harry Illingworth
A film journalist for two decades, Crowther is currently editor in chief at Hollywood Authentic. She has written about movies from film sets and festivals around the world for publications including Total Film Magazine, Glamour, Heat, High Life and broadsheet newspapers, as well as appearing on TV, radio and podcasts. She has written fiction and screenplays from an early age – starting with short stories and poems before dabbling with novels as an adult.
Gatsby is her first published novel, inspired by the well-loved paperback she repeatedly read as a kid after finding it in her Mum's bookshelf. Drawn to the book by the photograph of stars Robert Redford and Mia Farrow on the cover of this 1974 film tie-in edition, Crowther read Fitzgerald's novella numerous times over the years and often saw thematic parallels to contemporary times, deciding to explore the tale of doomed love, fame, scandal and class through the 21st century lens of social media.
She is also the author of non-fiction title Silver Screens: The stories Behind 100 Remarkable Cinemas (Nov 2025) and is currently working an another movie-related non-fiction and two novels.
