Jini Reddy

Jini Reddy is an author and journalist. Her first book Wanderland: A Search for Magic in the Landscape (2020, Bloomsbury) was shortlisted for the Stanford Dolman Award for Travel Book of the Year and the Wainwright Prize for UK Nature Writing. She has also penned an award-winning guidebook and contributed to a number of anthologies, including the landmark Women on Nature (2021, Unbound).

Jini has spoken widely at festivals and book events, and in 2021 delivered the inaugural Jan Morris Lecture at the Hay Festival. She has been a judge on the Stanford Dolman Travel Book of the Year Award, and her texts and poems have been displayed in London, notably at the Winter Light exhibition at London’s Southbank Centre, where she was the sole writer among twenty visual artists.

She has contributed features, travel and occasional book reviews to numerous publications, among them the Guardian, Independent, The Times, Sunday Times Style, Daily and Sunday Telegraph, Financial Times, Metro, TIME, National Geographic and Resurgence & Ecologist. In 2019 she was named a National Geographic Woman of Impact. Jini started her career in book publishing, working for Penguin Books and Pan Macmillan.

She was born in the UK and grew up in Montreal, Quebec. She received her B.A. in Geography from McGill, Canada's oldest university, and completed an M.A. in English Literature at Avignon University in France.  She now makes her home in a leafy London suburb.
