K Devan

K Devan is an award-winning writer based in London, born to first generation Kenyan-Indian immigrants. Inspired from a young age by his mother’s political activism, his fiction explores hidden histories and the stories we choose to not tell our children.

With a focus on class and sexuality, his work won the 2024 New Writing North’s ‘A Writing Chance’ award and was shortlisted for the Merky Book Prize. He is a graduate of the Faber Academy, where he entered on a full scholarship.

When not writing, he works as a junior doctor with an NHS team providing psychological support to refugees and asylum seekers.
