L. C. Winter

L. C. Winter likes to give the reader a shiver and writes lyrical gothic crime stories that explore relationships and place.

After studying for her English degree many years ago, Libby went on to a career as a gardener, demonstrating that, if nothing else, she's not afraid to change her mind. She has spent many years wrangling the gardens at various historic homes, feeding a love for the past and walking through it every day. She writes stories in her head as she gardens, pondering the fact they come out so dark when she's surrounded by beauty - there might be something about cycles of life, death, and decay in there.

She grew up in rural East Anglia and her first book, The Mere, draws on the atmospheric landscape and distinctive voices of Suffolk.

She now lives in Derbyshire with her nerdy husband and neurotic cats.
