DHH News Roundup 9th - 15th October 2023

T. M. Payne

We're kicking off this week's DHH News Roundup with a fantastic endorsement from Mari Hannah for T. M. Payne's forthcoming debut novel, Long Time Dead (Amazon Publishing, March 2024):

"T. M. Payne’s thrilling debut Long Time Dead has a great plot with a well-drawn cast of characters, led by DI Sheridan Holler. If you are a fan of police procedurals, this one set in the mean streets of Liverpool is for you."

Jo Thomas

Congratulations to Jo Thomas, who last week saw the publication of the paperback for her new book, Countdown to Christmas!

The perfect festive romance to curl up with as the nights draw in...

Jo also appeared last week on BBC Radio Cornwall, and you can catch up here.

The cover for Vengeance, the sequel to Saima Mir's 2023 debut The Khan, has been revealed and it is a stunner. The book will published by Point Blank in June 2024.

Two years into running her organised crime syndicate in the north of England, Jia Khan stumbles on a notebook her father – the previous Khan – kept on arrival from Pakistan in the 1970s. And what Jia finds in the journal sends her deep into the family’s past. But once the sleeping dogs from those years are woken, they are set for attack.

Meanwhile, Jia struggles to control unrest amongst those that oppose her.

Worst of all, Jia must unravel a puzzling but terrible warning – one of her staff lies brutally slain, his corpse displayed in her garden despite her sophisticated security … Could a traitor be part of her inner sanctum?

Anita Frank

We loved seeing Anita Frank featured in Shropshire Magazine last week.

Anita sat down with the publication's Heather Large, to chat about her latest book, The Good Liars and her journey to becoming one of the most well-respected historical fiction authors writing today.

Chris McDonald

The new chilling crime novel coming this winter, The Killer's Christmas List by Chris Frost (aka Chris McDonald), coming this November from HarperNorth, has been given a fabulous quote from fellow author Chris Whitaker:

"You’ll need ice in your veins to reach the stunning, twisting finale. This should be on every crime reader’s Christmas wish list."

Lizzie Huxley-Jones

The other publication day this week came in the form of the paperback for Lizzie Huxley-Jones' debut romcom, Make You Mine This Christmas (Hodder & Stoughton).

Delightfully festive, Kiran Millwood-Hargrave calls it "sexy, sweet and smart".

Anthony Kavanagh

Client Anthony Kavanagh appeared on BBC Radio Manchester last Friday to talk all things 90s with DJ, Emily Brobyn.

He also exclusively revealed what he's working on at the moment, and you can catch up here (approx 20m in).

Gareth Brown

The US cover for Gareth Brown's forthcoming debut, The Book of Doors (February 2024, HarperCollins - UK: Transworld) has been revealed. We didn't think anything could beat the beauty of the UK cover, but we think you'll agree that it is being a very strong run for its money...!

Ragnar Jonasson

Finally, we're really excited to be able to tell you that a director and leading lady have been announced for the television adaptation of Ragnar Jónasson's The Darkness.

Lasse Hallström, director of Chocolat and What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, will helm the project while Lena Olin (Enemies, A Love Story, Alias) will star in the production, playing DI Hulda Hermansdóttir.

The show is a co-venture between CBS Studios and Icelandic company, Truenorth, and will feature six episodes, beginning filming in Iceland later this year.
